Sound waves notes:
- There's two types of waves : the S wave (sheer) & the P wave (pressure)
- S wave travels in a s form this means , it travels going up and down.
- P wave travels with pressure , this means it travels like straight lines , Besides it travels faster by it highest velovity.
- The Sofar channel is located in the middle of the ocean , the sound at the Sofar channel is very slow , however it travels to huge distance in the sea.
- Sofar channel does not travel in the shadow zone , thus the sound there is more faster,
- The waves are reflected in the sofar channel . This means when they almost touch the bottom go up, and then down ,on and on.
- By the intensity of the echo in the sofar channel ,scientist can tell if the bottom is hard, sandy, soft , cover in coral between others more.
- Organisms in the sea use the sound to communicate between them or to locate their prey.
- Aquatic mammals for example, use sound to locate their prey and also by the sofar channel they can communicate between their groups in other parts of the ocean , because by sofar channel the sound travels to huge distances from just one point.
- Some people , military for example , have been used the sounds in the sofar channels to locate their enemies and also to know at what distance they are located . And for some exploration they use the sofar channel to know what kind of animals use this resource , at what time , how many , between more data. Sofar channel is really useful for everyone
